What’s All This ‘K-Street’ Nonsense Anyway?

Okay, so since we can’t assume that everyone who lives in D.C. or anywhere else in the nation is always up on their current events, we’re here to fill you in on the deal with the new K-Street design and just what it’s all about. (Yes, people, it is actually based on a real event and is more than just a super cool fancy design…whoa!)

So here’s the lowdown. In the beginning of 2007, Jeane Palfrey, who was dubbed by the press as “the D.C. Madame”, was charged in a federal indictment for running a high-class “call girl” agency around K and 16th Streets in downtown D.C. Her clientele list apparently consisted of many high profile government officials and employees whose names were being sought after by the press and astute observers like us. Lawyers and lobbyists affiliated with the high profile clients fought back to suppress the list being made public, but a few did end up getting leaked. P.R. nightmare anyone?

“I’m sure as heck not going to be going to federal prison for one day, let alone, four to eight years, because I’m shy about bringing in the deputy secretary of whatever,” Palfrey told ABC News correspondent Brian Ross in an interview to be broadcast Friday on “20/20.” “I’ll bring in every last one of them in if necessary,” she said. That quote was taken from ABC news, where you can read more details about the whole debacle.

So… this is where we come in, fulfilling our duty from the land of politics to provide the color for the follies of our upstanding politicians. As always, we are embracing the idea that our designs can look good and have a strong message at the same time (though we will try and keep it up “above the belt”). So now you can look at the design with a fresh eye and an educated perspective! We have gotten plenty of positive feedback on the design from Aplomb fans, so pick one up because they’ll be gone faster than you can say “How Much Do I Owe You?”

Also, don’t sleep on the K-Street Skate Deck and the K-Street Girls Design coming out soon!
